What is Onshape?

Founded in 2012, Onshape was acquired by PTC in November 2019. Onshape is a cutting edge- cloud based SAAS (Software as a Service) design platform. It is another step-change in CAD — no files, no version control issues, no updates/patches/installs, no heavy compute power needed! Onshape is an all-in-one system that combines CAD, release management, workflow, collaboration, analytics, admin tools, and an API with more than 50 engineering applications. This cloud based software enables a new paradigm in product development — one that is very exciting and will rely on distributed engineers working from anywhere (an office, at home, on the beach, etc.).

What to expect from Onshape.

• Never crashes, never needs to save.
• Fast performance with large models (still had loading time, but way faster than CAD software).
• Branching and merging models are way better. Easy to iterate.
